About this story
An investigation instead of a great war
"The Acolyte" takes place a hundred years before "The Phantom Menace", at a time when the Jedi still hold considerable influence and the galaxy has seen no open conflict with the Sith. Attacks on members of the Order shake that confidence. For Master Sol the case becomes personal: the trail leads to his former student Osha and to events on Brendok that he remembers differently from the others who were there. The series builds tension around the question of whether a crime can be solved when the people trusted with the investigation are themselves hiding an important part of the truth.
Sisters and different ways of seeing the Force
Osha left her training with the Order and is trying to live outside Jedi rules. Her sister Mae is tied to a different path, and their childhood was spent in a coven of witches on Brendok. This widens the familiar setting: the Jedi are not the only ones able to teach Force-sensitive children and explain the nature of their abilities. The dispute between traditions is also about the right to decide for others. The wish to protect a child can coexist with a failure to understand her family, her culture and her own choice.
The late High Republic
About a century separates this story from Starlight Beacon and the events of Light of the Jedi. So do not expect a direct continuation of the crisis from the books or the same lead characters. What carries over is the question of trust in the Order: how it reacts when a threat contradicts its settled view of the world. Different versions of the same event gradually change how the characters are judged, so early explanations should not be taken as final. A general familiarity with the Jedi is enough to watch the series; details of the book cycle are not required.
Route context
A Golden Age
The Republic invests in distant systems, and the Jedi help keep its worlds connected. A disaster in hyperspace and Nihil raids test the belief that mutual aid can overcome any threat. A century later, the events of "The Acolyte" show a different stage of the era: a strong Order still holds influence but is not always ready to admit its own mistakes or to see danger that falls outside its familiar explanations.

Sol confesses that he killed the sisters' mother, Aniseya, during the events on Brendok. Hiding what happened that night shapes the lives of Osha and Mae and turns the investigation into a return to a responsibility the Jedi tried to shut out. The Stranger shows that behind the visible attacks stands a dark power the Order failed to recognize for what it was.
